Board Duties

President

  • Must have presided on the HSA board for at least a year
  • Current Honors student
  • Oversees all HSA activities
  • Must make sure that there are sufficient events to fulfill all the four pillars of Honors
    • 1. Community (meetings, ice skating, etc.)
    • 2. Service (Habitat, Scholars Day, etc.)
    • 3. Research (Undergraduate Research presentations, guest speakers about research, etc.)
    • 4. Career (An Hour with Honors, guest speaker, resume workshop, etc.)
  • Presides over all meetings
  • Must work closely with the Honors staff (HSA’s faculty advisor, Kevin Pietrowski for all promotional material, etc.)
  • Member of the Honors Council must attend meetings determined by Jerry Herron; give updates on HSA; input on changes to Honors
  • Contact person for the Honors College Staff regarding HSA

Vice-President

  • Must have presided on the HSA board for at least a year
  • Current Honors student
  • Member of the Honors Council must attend meeting determined by Jerry Herron; give updates on HSA; input on changes to Honors
  • Must work closely with the Honors staff
  • Presides over meetings if the President is unable to do so

Secretary

  • Current Honors student
  • Contact person for current and prospective members
  • Manage the hsa@wayne.edu e-mail box
  • Send out meeting reminders and meeting recap e-mails
  • Keep track of member participation (i.e. spreadsheet of points)
  • Update forms with Dean Of Students Office at the beginning of the year
  • Meeting minutes

Treasurer

  • Current Honors student
  • Discuss any monetary issues with Stuart May or Antonio Austin (thank you knick-knacks, HSA promotional material (fliers), food for end of semester events, etc.)
  • Room reservation for all HSA events, including meetings
  • Follow up with records committee about dues.
  • Keep record of HSA budget: keep receipts

Public Relations

  • Current Honors student
  • Promote HSA to Honors students (i.e. flyers, newsletter about HSA happenings, etc. ;work closely with Kevin Pietrowski)
  • Design and distribute HSA fliers for specific events- meetings, PB+J Night, Detroit Service Bus Tour, Career Fair, Health Fair
  • One PR personnel will take care of paper advertisements
  • One PR personnel will take care of social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
  • Responsible for communicating with different departments and areas of study

Webmaster

  • Current Honors student
  • Maintains HSA's Website (http://www.hsa.wayne.edu)
  • Must demonstrate experience in creating, maintaining, and updating websites (Twitter, IG, and FB feeds)
  • Help with any technical issues presented in meetings
  • Update website after every event
  • Manage subcommittees of social media content and petition/suggestions page
